Continuing with the series on a few of the botanical vistas I've seen this spring, these are Layia (tidy tips) and Lasthenia (gold fields) along Shell Creek Road on April 5, 2010.

Wow - this takes me back...I was a City Planning student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the 1970s. I've been up this road. On further up into the hills are rock outcrops along the road where I found a dawn redwood fossil.

The California spring wildflowers are wonderful.

Wow... and wow again! Having an addiction to all things yellow, this is my ideal! I can just imagine laying in this field watching the clouds roll by! Pure heaven to me! Thank you Daniel.

from what i read tidy tips is grown in england and univeristy of cal davis has a page
plus a bug page with an all manner of bugs feeding

Jamie -- those will be lupines, photographed from above. Lupinus nanus? Lupinus bicolor?
